And I finally got my invite…

Backyard Ramp

So… after a conversation on Friday, I woke up this morning to an invite to Cliffton’s backyard skateboarding extravaganza! So I left to hit the country for a day of skateboarding. I had missed the festivities from the day/night before of beer, bbq, fresh gulf shrimp, and ramp building, which I am sure was quite a party… maybe next time boys…

Now I have seen photos of this literal “Half-Pipe” and heard of it’s awesomeness, but no words can describe the actual POWER of this monster, no flat bottom… all weathered plywood surface… it was… AWESOME!!! And I promise the blunt will happen next time!

So I spent the afternoon with the guys chilling out, sweating, skating and riding the 4 wheelers in the rain… Thanks! And Frank you are right… quite relaxing hanging out in the country for the day… and I can’t forget to thank Cliffton for giving me the day pass to chill-out at his house & ramp!

Animals, Gadgets & Insects…

squeaky-curious.jpg

Thought I would make a general post about everything that comes to mind. Today my new/used fisheye came back from Sigma from being repaired and so I did a little experimenting with it and all I got was the cat photo above. Took some shots of the big black widow that was in the garage. All on my Flickr. Plus several new ones taken over the last several weeks. I have found the GREATEST plugin for my MacBook Pro. It is called Flickrshop. You can edit you photos straight in photoshop and export them straight to your Flickr account. It makes things so much easier. So if you have a Mac (yes I succumbed to the other side for portability and got an apple.) and use Photoshop, then get that plugin now for ease of use.

crackberry-curve.jpgI also bought a new phone… I have had so many problems with my Cingular 8125, with functionality, the touchscreen, and many other things I could not bare another day with it. After two HARSH days waiting at the AT&T store, I finally got my new Crackberry Curve 8300. RIM has really accomplished a beautiful product. The email on it is so smooth and the camera… Check this out! It takes 1600X1200 photos, with damn good quality. So now I don’t recommend Windows for a phone operating system…

Granted the iPhone was very tempting, but I really have no use for that much shit on a phone. I already have the iPods and a laptop. My Crackberry gets my email every few minutes and can read Office files, no other need. Plus I know I will drop it at some point and Cindy’s slipped onto the floor and cracked her screen already… no thanks for me!

Bout’ it for now…

Its funny these ads were released around the time when Nike gave its first go at making skateboard shoes. Although these adds were very good, they actually may have pushed skaters away further, by making it look like they were trying to hard to fit in w/ the skateboarding community. Now a couple of years later, Nike SB take 2, they are fully established as a shoe company for skateboarding. But there ads follow a more skateboard formulaic approach, trying not to stick out as much as the 11 billion dollar company they are. Nike had to wait out an entire generation of anti-corporate skateboarders and now they are accepted. I would rather have these kids save there money so they can buy alcohol or drugs instead of buying nikes. At least this way in there altered state they could actually realize the hipocracy which is nike in skateboarding. NIKE ISN’T SKATEBOARDING
